EMASS Shows Strong at Mass Senior Games

EMASS was very well represented in Springfield at the 3rd annual Mass Senior Games Tournament (held August 8-10). Overall our teams were 11-7-1 and brought home TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS - and countless smiles!

Our EMASS 65s (managed by Dave Toner, Steve Poole, and Bob Vincent) survived a rough Saturday but pounded out hits all over the field on Sunday to win their semi-final and Championship games each by 1 run.

Our EMASS 70s (managed by Larry Fegan, Tom Regan, and Mike Carroll) outclassed everyone in their division with stellar defense and timely hitting, blowing out teams in the Semi-finals and the Finals.

Our EMASS 75s (managed by Art Priver and Tom Hall) went undefeated on Saturday, and won their Semi-final on Sunday before losing by one run in the Championship game.

Our EMASS 60s (managed by Steve Elkinson and Steve Bober) scored 73 runs in 4 games, but somehow lost 3 of them to teams with monster hitters.

EMASS Supports 5th Annual Norm Harrison Tournament

On February 5, 25 EMASS players (two teams) traveled to the New Hampshire Sportsdome in Goffstown for the 5th Annual Norm Harrison Memorial Indoor Tournament. Norm was a long-time EMASS pitcher and friend who passed away unexpectedly several years ago. In his honor, a group of Norm’s EMASS friends organized to play a tournament along with Norm’s New Hampshire softball friends. Each year since then, the players in the tournament have made a contribution to Norm’s favorite charity, a summer camp for children of Wounded Warriors. Great fun way to make a positive difference!

EMASS Plays Prominent Role at 2024 CCSSL Tournament

The 2024 Cape Cod Senior Softball Classic Tournament (September 6-11) featured 64 teams across 11 divisions, spanning 6 different age groupings (50s, 60s, 65s, 70s, 75s, and 80s).

EMass was represented by 150+ players, spread through 23 of the teams - including 8 of the 11 division winners!  Pictured below are 14 of those teams (including all 8 division winners).  See how many faces you can recognize.  Bonus: scroll all the way to the bottom to find the EMass player who won the Home Run Derby that was held on September 7.
